Since its creation, the country has always been committed to the UN, its agencies and related entities. As a member of the Security Council, Colombia strives for Cooperation among the States and the agencies of the United Nations Systems in defense of the superior interests of the international community, with a perspective that protects the interests and needs of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and other developing countries to ensure they are properly addressed.

In this sense, Colombia has placed itself as a leader in the region and the world, offering the international community experiences learned in particular areas in which the country has developed technical and operating abilities.
