The International Coffee Organization (ICO) is the main intergovernmental organization for coffee, bringing together exporting and importing Governments to tackle the challenges faced by the world sector by means of international cooperation.
The ICO Member Governments represent 97% of the world production and more than 80% of coffee consumption worldwide.
The mission of ICO is to strengthen the global coffee sector and promote its sustainable expansion in a market-based environment, for the benefit of all participants in the coffee sector.
The International Coffee Council is the highest authority of the Organization. It meets twice a year, in March and September, allowing government entities and the most important representatives of the sector worldwide to discuss coffee matters.
