Certificate of no Objection to Remaining Abroad

Colombians residing abroad who hold a Student’s Visa and are required to obtain a Certificate of No Objection to their Remaining Abroad must file an application in compliance with the following.

 Requirements:

  • Substantiated request addressed to the Colombian Embassy (Washington D.C.) or the respective Consulate
  • Statement of the reasons for requesting a Certificate of No Objection and describe the program followed under the student’s visa.
  • Date of entry into the country of residence, telephone number, address and electronic mail address where the interested party may be notified.
  • Copy of valid passport.
  • Copy of Student’s Visa.
  • Personal declaration by the interested party that he/she has not received any economic support or scholarship from Colombian or United States governmental entities.
  • “Case Number” assigned.
  • Note: For further information about the tramit you must do into the United States of America's Goverment, and for getting the "case number" you must review the information provided by the United States Department of State in the link below.

Please note that you must have formalized your request for copies before you can make the respective payment.

  • Electronic payment: On the internet, to use the Electronic Payment System, press the Safe Payments On Line button (see our Citizen’s Guide to EPS). Remember that, in order to pay by EPS, you must have an active account in Colombia with a financial entity which provides electronic payment service.
