TRANSFER OF VISA

 

A visa may be transferred when the foreigner requires the authorization of an activity additional to that shown on his/her visa or because of deterioration, change or loss of his/her passport and when any clarification of change of occupation is requested.
 
Requirements
 
•    Present Form DP-FO-67 “Application for a visa” completely filled out and signed by the foreign applicant.

• Present a valid passport or travel document, in good condition and with a minimum of two (2) blank pages.

• Copy of the main page of the valid passport showing the holder’s personal data, of the page containing the last Colombian visa, if any, and of the page with the most recent stamp of entry or departure from Colombia, as the case may be.

• Two (2) recent 3X3 cm photographs, full face front view, against a white background or, in the case of applications at a Colombian Consulate, three (3) such 3X3 photographs.

• A photocopy of the data pages of the passport on which the visa to be transferred appears, except when it has been lost, in which case a written statement to this effect must be presented.

• Copy of the alien’s identity card (cédula de extranjería), as appropriate.

• Certificate of the migratory journey issued by the Colombia Migration – Special Administrative Unit attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a completely sealed envelope, issued no more than three (3) months previously, unless the visa to be transferred has not yet expired:  because of absence from Colombia (6 months for Temporary visas and two (2) years for Residents’ visas), because the term of temporary residence in Colombia has expired (two (2) years for a Business visa granted to a business person within the framework of a free trade agreement, association agreement or other international commitment to which Colombia is a party and one (1) year for all other business visas).

• Present Form SC-FO-07 “Commitment to inform the Colombia Migration - Special Administrative Unit attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, completely filled out and signed, reporting any change of occupation or job.

• In the event of loss or theft of a passport, applicants must present a copy of the respective report.

• For the transfer of a Resident Investor’s Visa, applicants must also present: documents showing that they have maintained the amount of the investment in Colombia for at least the three (3) years immediately preceding the date of transfer of the visa. In the case of direct foreign investment in real estate, holders are required to present the Certificate of Transfer and Freedom from Encumbrance granted by the respective Public Instruments Registration Office, issued not more than one year earlier, certifying that the applicant for transfer of a Resident Investor’s Visa is still the owner of the property in Colombian territory of a value equal to the registered investment.
 
Cost of the visa: Forty dollars (US$40) in Colombian pesos at the average exchange rate established every four (4) months by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Opening hours: MONDAY TO FRIDAY 7:30 am to 12:00 noon (last day of the month 7:30 am to 10:30 am).

Copy of the biographical data page of the passport and the latest visa and/or entry stamp.
