A request for judicial assistance is a procedure followed by a Colombian authority, either judicial or administrative, sent to a consular agent in order for him/her to effect certain processes with respect to a Colombian citizen or a foreigner for the purposes of a process or investigation.

 

Requirements

√ A request presented in writing in the Spanish language and filed with the offices of the Ministry of  Foreign Relations in Bogota D.C., addressed to the consular agent who is to carry out the procedures requested within the respective circumscription, stating the purpose of the said proceeding and attaching the documents required for the process involved.

√ If the procedure is that of taking evidence, the concrete facts regarding which the interrogation is to be carried out must be specified, attaching the respective questionnaire and stating the formalities, if any, to which the said proceeding is subject.

√ Any other information considered useful for the consular agent must be forwarded to the competent authority, including, if necessary, models to be completee in the respective process.
