Press Release – Ministry of Defense

September 7, 2009.- The Government wishes to inform that ten videos, which provide evidence of the survival of the members of the forces of law and order held hostage for over ten years, were found and seized last weekend.

For humanitarian reasons, the videos have already been shown to the families of the soldiers and policemen held captive by the narco-terrorist organization, FARC. And now, we present them to the people of Colombia and to the international community.

The videos evidence the cruel and degrading treatment the FARC inflict on their hostages. They also show the deplorable physical and mental conditions in which four Army personnel and six policemen are being held: with thick chains and padlocks around their necks.

The videos seized correspond to:

10. Intendent, Police, Jorge Trujillo, kidnapped July 11, 1999, in Puerto Rico (hostage for 10 years).

The Government deplores the disgraceful conditions in which the members of the forces are held hostage by the FARC, and expresses its solidarity with their families. The Government also demands the full and unconditional release of all hostages and denounces, to Colombia and the world, this flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law by FARC.
